A friendly moment between two macaws. -
A macaw at rest, sporting his huge nut-cracking beak and some lovely plumage. -
The maccaws would be nuzzling each other one moment and fighting the next. This picture showed the beautiful colours in the wings as they were flapping about. -
We got a course in jungle medicine. This particular medicine comes conveniently as an infusion of alcohol in shots :-) -
River view, Madre de Dios, Peru. -
"I swear something just moved down there." -
Christina tests the effectiveness of DEET. -
Our guide told us not to ever get stung by the bullet ant. -
Pretending to be a twig, pretty well. -
Green tree frog looking sly. -
Adventurous tadpole making use of the brand new appendages. -
Green parrots gathering to lick minerals from the clay. -
Christina channels her inner monkey. -
Christina shows us how gigantic jungle trees stay upright with shallow roots: buttresses. -
Bamboo in the Amazon really doesn't like monkeys climbing it.
Here are a few pictures that we were not able to get out of the jungle while we were there.
*Edit* Added some more pictures.
Those are some lovely photos!
